Download the 2.1.3 OS Upgrade from Korg UK by clicking on the link on the "i30 Tips and Downloads" page, then follow these instructions: (If there comes a time when the download is no longer available online, email me at ghyskell@mchsi.com and I will send you the file for the Version 2.1.3 OS. I have had this file since this version of the operating system came out, and have kept it safe from viruses. However, I accept no liability and provide it only for your convenience and conscientious efforts to install it carefully following the instructions below) Read this carefully all the way through before starting. There are two phases discussed here, the PC phase and the i30 phase. Both are critical. Take your time, concentrate on each phase carefully. When you get to the i30 part, be especially careful not to interupt the process once begun. Be especially careful not to touch any of the i30 buttons during installation. You do not want to wind up with a keyboard only Korg can fix. PC phase: First, label two (preferably new) 1.44MB floppy disks, "Disk 1" and "Disk 2". Do a complete format of each disk. Insert the labeled and formatted "Disk 1" into the 3 1/2" floppy drive of your computer. Unzip the file "i30_213.zip" after downloading it. You will have two files on your pc when you are finished unzipping the file. Neither of these are ready for installation in the i30! Both of these files are self-executing batch files that will write to the floppy disks you insert into your computer. With Disk 1 inserted into the floppy drive of the PC, double click on the icon of the "213_dsk1.exe" file, and you will see it convert into a file that the i30 can use, (you will see a progress screen showing the percentage of completion as the file self-executes). When done, remove Disk 1 from the PC. Insert Disk 2 into the PC. Double click on the "213_dsk2.exe" file. As the file self-executes, you will see a similar progress screen showing the percentage of completion. Files are being written the disk during this process. Remove Disk 2. i30 phase: Now, to the i30. The power is off. Hold down, both at the same time: the KEYBOARD MAIN and BACKING SEQUENCE buttons while you power on the i30. This will put the i30 into the Operating System upgrade mode. Have Disk 1 ready to insert when the i30 asks for the "A" file (Disk 1 contains BOTH the OS Files "A" AND "B", Disk 2 contains "C", so DO NOT be tempted to remove Disk 1 when it says that "A" is loaded and wants "B". "B" is STILL ON DISK 1!!! The i30 will simply move onto file "B" by itself, while Disk 1 is still inserted into the i30. ONCE BEGUN, DO NOT INTERRUPT THE LOADING PROCESS. DO NOT TOUCH ANY BUTTONS DURING THE LOADING PROCESS. AFTER file "B" is loaded, THEN and only then remove DISK 1, and insert Disk 2, which contains file "C". When "C" is finished loading, you will then see that the i30 now shows 2.1.3 at the upper left hand corner of the screen. Remove disk 2. At this point, you can actually start using the i30, although as with any updating of any OS, it might be a good idea to shut off the i30 and "reboot" it.
